Origami Bear - Photo Request

Post by snkhan »

Hi guys,

I recently received an email from a University speaker who requested just a photo of an Origami bear:
I'm a college prof in the US, organizing a conference on bears for scholars and activists. As I was searching for images / designs to put on our posters and flyers, it hit me that an origami bear made of a book page (i.e. paper with text printed on it) would fit the conference theme beautifully. I don't have the slightest idea of how difficult or time-consuming such a project would be. We can't offer money at this point (none of my speakers get paid), but the creator of such a bear would (1) see his / her name mentioned on the posters, and perhaps a book cover if the conference proceedings are published; (2) keep his / her creation as I only need high-resolution pictures of it.

I hope that you can help me. It's for a good cause!

hmmmm... I'd suggest a design challenge, but it's almost the same subject as the Spectacled Bear design challenge.

Jared Needle has a really good bear in Origami Tanteidan 14 if anybody wants to give it a shot.

Origami Bear - Photo Request

Post by gordigami »

Some great bears already listed...
Wholehearted agree with Quentin's creations, and would have to add
Bernie Peyton's Polar Bears, as well as Roman Diaz (speckled bear) and Hsi-hua Liu models.
(Oops ! I may have given away the secret of the 4 out of 5 designers that I most relate to...)
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .

well, he asked for a bear from paper with text on it. This was all I had, and I thought the "eastern" look fits the origami side quite well, but maybe that's just me....
