Manuel Sirgo - Scorpion (CP)

Post by MagicalLiopleuradon »

I seem to have folded the base correctly, but I have no Idea of how to shape the rest of the model :?

Has anyone folded it before? If so, could you help me?

That very nice scorpion is diagrammed in his second book, Origami Menagerie. I own it, but it would help if you could post a picture of where you are right now on it.

I think he is folding from crease pattern, not diagram.

Ah, I figured it out. It still needs some shaping, and some things don't seem right in the model. And it seemed like the seperating of some of the les wasn't in the crease pattern, but I found it easy once I collapse th rest of the base.

But, the pincers aren't split! So does anyone know how to split them.

Once I have shaped the model to my satisfaction, I will post a picture of it.

Yes, the legs come paired as triangles.

He does the old point-split on the pincers, as described in Origami Design Secrets, and here: http://www.fishgoth.com/origami/essay_designing2.html (minus the third toe).

Glad you figured it out!

Thanks for your help! I should be done soon.

Meanwhile, I have also folded Sirgo's Narhwal (It's magnificently simple yet effective) and an Angel holding a Cross (Box-Pleat) from someones design someone on the forums.

I seem to be improving at CP's now.

Why don't you post some photos in a gallery, or at our 'What have you folded lately' thread in the 'General' section of the forum.

I don't know, I'm never too happy with my models

But yeah, I need help shaping again. I have collapsed the base of the kraken (I can't remenber the authors name...But, the picture and CP are on Passion Origami) but have no Idea where to go next. I know which flaps will become which parts, I just don't know where to start.
