Manuel Sirgo - Crayfish

Post by DanDaMan »

I'm having some trouble with steps 31-34. They are all simple valley folds but mine never look right. As you can see, that little triangle in the center in the book's illustration is halfway tucked into the left flap, and mine is not. Why is that?

Yeah, first off he's Manuel Sirgo. (I know it says Manuel Sirgo Alvarez, but the Sirgo is "more important" than the Alvarez")

And secondly, it would be helpful to tell us what book it's in (or where diagrams can be found), so that we can look at them ourselves and check. Especially as your problem isn't going from you are to a new step, but that what you have at the moment may be incorrect.

...just use the Origami Database. It'd take about as long as typing that reply. http://www.origamidatabase.com/

It's in "Origami Menagerie" on page 165.

DanDaMan, it looks to me like you did something strange during the sink at step 30. Look at step 31 very closely; those corners on the side should be separate, not locked together as they are in your photo. It's an open sink not a closed one!

Thank you. I was doing an open sink before, but for some reason when I folded it again it turned out right. Now I'm up to step 59, but the paper is so thick I can't seem to make the fold.

Yeah, sorry... I have a bad habit of surfing the forum when I'm really tired and should just go to sleep.

I'm having some more trouble with steps 59-60. How does that step work?

That process is explained in a better way during steps 21-27 of the Ant (page 154). I'm not sure why he diagrammed them differently.
