hello im karan im 11 years old and earlier on today i just got a british record:D

i made five cranes in five minutes to get the record it sounds unimpressive but its quite hard try it !

Ages ago i was making cranes in less than 30 secs...

Well, at normal folding speed, in the air, with a couple of minor mistakes which I corrected along the way, it just took me 1:13. If I were speed-folding I'm sure I could beat that. And if I didn't care about accuracy and/or used a table, that would crush that time. It did take longer than it seemed though...I'll grant you that.

All depends what you mean by a 'crane'. If you mean a display standard model, with all creases to less than a millimetre, than 5 minutes is a reasonable time.

If you are on about folding the pattern generally, and allowing a little slopiness, then 5 minutes is rather generous.

If you are on about a rough bird base, with thinning and reverse folds, then one could go much, much quicker.

Congrats on the record !

Along those lines, there are folks who can fold a crane with one hand, and a few who can do it with no hands

... They use their feet.

The most entertaining - performed by professional folder Jeremy Shafer -
is to set a piece of paper on fire and fold it into a crane (or flapping bird ?) before the paper is consumed !
[Don't try this unless you are a professional.]

So, there are more records to aspire to....

what kind of paper size are we talking? 15cm takes a lot longer than 7.5cm.

Hmmm, 51.34 seconds! I timed it on the chronogropher on my stop watch

. I think I might have started it about a second late, though... so we'll say 52.34 seconds.
