All folded from 7.5-8 cm (about 3 inch) squares except the Unicorn, which was folded from a 15 cm (6 inch) square.

I have also folded the Chocobo and the Splash Swan from 3 inch paper with no problems.

on a completely different note, i notice we're up to 15 new diagrammed models from kamiya, what with the cerberus and the lyre bird this year.

the first book had 19 models.

i will wager that the phoenix will be the "crown jewel" of his next book, which would be 16.

If i remember correctly i think i used about 8 or 9 inch square of paper. Its a perfect size for that model because its not too complex.

A crane has reference points? I think in the world of diagrams reference points are not too much of a worry, if the models are well diagrammed (which i know Satoshi's are)

I think that he was talking about Kamiya's Chocobo (yellow bird). If so, you don't really need ref. points for the bird...

In that case, you don't need to make reference points; you simply need to make your creases accurate. Just make crisp creases that extend to the proper points, and you should be fine.

hmmm... with the veil-tailed angelfish and minotaur being diagrammed, we're up to 17 diagrammed models. only 2 less than the first book.
