Well, there is a sink, and mostly, just follow the mountains and valleys - it should collapse pretty evenly - could you take a picture and post it? That way, we can see exactly where you are going wrong .
Yes, but you can tell what is a mountain and a valley - if you look at Ryu Jin 2.1, does it distinguish between mountains and valleys? No, but you can look at it and figure out which is which.... It's not very hard .
Well, I'm pretty sure that if they were having trouble with the MV discinction, they would ask for it . I might be wrong, but if I were having trouble finding the MVD, I would ask for MVD. Maybe Starpartner could clear this up?
Off-topic, but my Ryu-zin CP distinguishes mountain and valley (The original published JOAS one).
Also, BUGguy, it is no grid. Use my reference or Artur's. Mine gets you the center of the internal diamond. His gets the bottom right corner of it. Either way you can find the remaining creases easily.
To be honest, when I got to that part, I didn't even make those creases, I just creased the tip of the diamond. The ones you have in blue I skipped, and they formed mostly on their own
Great thread guys. Thanks for the crease patterns, especially the MVD. Its funny, I just decided to start tackling this one this past weekend. This thread is perfect timing for me.

A question though, how did you go about figuring out the reference points? I was able to figure where to start, if there were no pleating along the two edges. I didn't know how to factor that in.
Well, both Jared and Artur posted reference points in the first page, you should use one of those. They factor in the graft on the edge too. Just remember, it is not based on a grid at all.
Yes, I've read the posts on both of these pages, and my question was not what their reference points are, but rather how they got their reference points. I would like to know how they computed them, what was their process, their methodology. I would like to learn how to find reference points on my own on other models I encounter.
Like I said, I know they factored in the 4 pleats on the edge, I don't know how. I could do it if it weren't for those 4. If those weren't there, its a simple intersection of a 22.5 and 45 from the corners, again, if the 4 edge pleats weren't there. I want to know how to plan around something like that.
