I got a flat base with the help from Jared (thank you so much !), see his post above :)

The way there is rather logical too - I suggest trying to fold individual parts of the CP before going for the whole thing if you are new to CP (I am anything but a veteran...)

I started this on a few days ago and just read through the comments here and have a few observations.

First, I have noticed a trend that Cps are not exact, there are sometimes creases left out, so staying absolutely true to the CP can be an obstacle, Such as where the horns meet the head, there are 3 points, which cannot fold flat, also, the ears do not match quite right for a flat base. However, I find that if you have done all the creases on the CP, you are pretty much at a base, and only some minor tweaking may be needed. The CP gives enough info to get there.

On that note, I have a question myself: 3 units from either side of the vertical center, there are vertical lines running from the ears to the bottom edge. Anyone know what those are for? I got it to fold flat as shown here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/34153370@N00/1306346263 but I'd still like to know, just kinda curious like that.

Also, if you look closely at his thighs here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sipmab/1277922019/sizes/o/ I noticed the angled pleat, which means you kinda need to turn the leg inside out and run it between the flaps of the front flap. I guess the second one forms a tail?

Well I hope this extra info helps anyone trying to make this.

I added some creases, and drew over extra creases with white lines.

As you can see, while making the CP technically more correct, the hinge creases are not only annoying to add, but they also do slightly obscure the principal structure. I guess in addition to laziness, this is why box-pleaters tend to leave them out....still, he had a bunch of extra creases too...

Hope that helps!
Hello, I'm sorry to reopen such an old post, but it would really help if someone could repost the modified CP picture that's missing from origamimasterjared's post above.
Or at least some pointers where the extra lines should be, in order to get a flat base. I would really appreciate it.
