Orislater - you asked earlier what part of the model the dorsal scales come from.
You mentioned that you were folding 2.1, which does not have dorsal scales. You can add them if you want to, but.... ...When you fold the model, there with be excess pleats on the bottom of the scales. You use that area.

Eh, it would have worked out great, but I offset the entire head pre-creasing by two units to the right, and, once you make sharp creases on tracing paper (as shuki kato can confirm), "the rest is history." I'm going to wait a while before re-doing the top half, but I now know that I can collapse it from that size of paper.

Okay.. It's my first try on Ryu Zin (In Progress, a half almost done : ))
I am very impatient and didn't do test folds on claws ant the tail, just folded everything at once (of course some time ago i made scales test, to find the best way to collapse)
I had a nightmare with the claws.. collapsing the 1st leg i agonized too much that i thought to stop doing this.. But somehow i managed to collapse correctly, i got it, and the second leg was easier, and was more tidy-looking.
I use baking paper.
Some photos for your judgment =D

Oh it seems i resized them too much
Okay, here is another one:

(you can see how the paper worn out)
