How do you...
divide a square into 40ths. I would love to make the violinist from Hoyjo Takashi. This would be a first with crease patterns, I believe I could do it with a little time and patience. Unless anyone knows which book I can get a diagram from (if there is one)??

you can get a diagram in a joas special edition or in kamiya's new book, super complex origami, i think it's called.
as for 40ths divide into 5ths then divide the fifths until you have fortieths

and btw, I'd recommend starting with something simpler than Hoyjo's violinist if its your first time using crease patterns. It isn't horribly complex, but its certainly not a beginner's crease pattern

5…25…125…625…3125… Nope, doesn't look like you'll hit 40ths anytime soon.orislater wrote:you can get a diagram in a joas special edition or in kamiya's new book, super complex origami, i think it's called.

Divide into 5ths and then divide the 5ths into 8ths. 8 x 5 = 40
Well how long do you guys think it'll take to make? I figure if I do it slow and accurate, I should be able to make it right?? Doesn't look like there are any tricks involved. And thanks for all the help!

well it´s just arithmetic progressions
like 2^0 2^1 2^2 2^3 2^4 etc
makes half divisions to 1 1/2 1/4 1/8 1/16 1/32 etc
and in thirds 1 1/3 1/9 1/18 1/54
and fourths 1 1/4 1/16 1/64 1/256
and fifths 1 1/5 1/25 1/125 1/625
soo you can mix and match for example if you take 1/5*1/8 makes 1/40
and 1/96 is 1/32*1/3
hope it helps

Mr. Takashi's Violinist
Hello,
this is my first time on this forum, or any forum, for that matter. I wrote out my own crease pattern for Takashi's violinist, based on the photos I saw of partially folded models on this site, but I am having trouble figuring out which appendages will be used for arms, the violin, bow, etc. Could someone explain this to me? Thanks!

To try to do something and fail is better than to try to do nothing and succeed.
