What Paper have you bought/recieved lately?

i received my origamido today
it is way thinner than i thought it would be (i had a bad dream in which i received my origamido but it was orange! and thick!)

I don't really get the part why it shouldn't be orange. When I received my Origamido I would have been very disappointed when it wouldn't have been orange, in the end I ordered tiger orange. But fortunately it came in the right colour and with zero thickness.

The local art store started stocking sheets of Papyrus. Has anybody tried folding that stuff? I bought a small sheet but I'm not sure what to do with it... It feels like it might crack if I try to fold it

Last week I bought some memo cube paper from Staples rec'd to me by someone on either this forum or flickr, can't remember. Anyway it is fantastic for modulars and very cheap!

Today I ordered the super big pack of tissue foil from Terry's shop, all sizes all colors. Can't wait to get that! I also ordered License to Fold and Origami Essence. Anyway I should get all this in about three weeks.

Thanks to Bethnor, now I know exactly where to order larger tant from-- Kim's Crane. I plan on buying some in the future to use to fold Montroll's polyhedra. But some of the models might be fine with 15 cm...

I know an art store that has papyrus in stock as well, but given the fact that the sheets cost 50% more than Origamido, and given their thickness, I never bothered to try.

It would've been perfect for the Egypt challenge, though...

I didn't want orange origamido because i ordered green origamido

Recently I bought Yasutomo, Miyabi. I really like the silky feel to it. It has a cherry blossom pattern and comes in four colors, pink, green, blue, & yellow, but I wish I could find it in just pink, because that is the color I use most with this particular paper.

I also bought just a basic pack of colored paper and cut them into 2 1/2 inch squares. This is my favorite size to work with on my projects.

My O-gami came in the mail today! I got 3 super thin sheets, which feel like the average origamido sheet in thickness, and 6 of the thicker sheets, which feel like they all range someplace in the 30-35gsm as far as relative thickness goes. Some are a little iridescent, the gray one has speckles, which is great (and similar to Origamido 'paper of the day' paper). I'm particularly excited about the two center yellowy camel colored ones! The large, thin sheets are 22x28 inches (56cm x 71cm) and cost $18.99. The slightly thicker sheets of the same size are a bit less.

how were you able to pick your colors? i've been following that website, and they keep pushing back their opening date.

also, does that paper need to be resized before you use it?

I don't think it needs to be sized bethnor, the paper smells very heavily of MC...I was able to pick my colors by arranging by email to call and talk to them. I'd be happy to PM you the email of the woman who helped me if you would like!

thanks frumious. i had actually guessed that's what you did after looking at their website again (that's what they tell you to do ). i am quite intrigued, but $18.99 is a bit steep. regardless i do think i will give it a try sooner or later. please do post your results of anything you fold with it, when/if you get a chance.

Yeah, they tell you to do that now because I sent them an email after they delayed it for like a fourth time...

The thicker sheets she sold me for only 12 bucks a piece...although I make no guarantees about what she would charge anyone else. The sheets are 616 square inches, as opposed to Origamido's 320 square inches for 8 dollars (or ten from Nicolas Terry)...so it nearly doubles the paper for only a bit more cost. And even the 18.99 ones are still a decent price for the amount of paper.

I will be sure to post the first things I make...I meant to last night, but was so beat from work that I just kind of sat there and fell asleep...perhaps tonight!

In the meantime though, Robert Lang has a cicada nymph up on his site made of it, and if you search Flickr for O-gami Paper you get a few things made of it, too!
