On wolf´s webpage there is a picture of the base partially collapsed.
I can get up to here, but I can´t go any further.
Wolf says:
This CP has two regions: a bird base construct in the top left and two edge grafts forming the rear of the body. A direction change construct forms the transitions between the two regions. The two edge grafts contain a sinks to narrow the body; these can be ignored until later, as usual.
Fold the direction change construct first and then fold the two edge grafts inwards around it. Sink the two sides to narrow the body, and then finally fill in the bird base construct that forms the head of the sheep.
What are those grafts?
Where are those sinks supposed to be?
If you've managed to fold it up to what's shown in the photo, then you've already successfully done the sinks.
The sunken regions are the ones enclosed by the red polygons; the overlapping green rectangles are grafts:
At this point, the two sides (where the sinks are) can be folded flat. The rear legs can be folded into position at this point - this should be fairly straightforward (it's like doing the windmill/catamaran model).
Is there an easy way to get the landmarks for this CP by folding? It seems to be based roughly on fifths but not exactly....
I prefer folding to printing
Of course. It's the same reason why TreeMaker can't help you much after it generates the CP for the base. Some intelligent design is required.
Sure! This model is making me crazy. I could fold Black Ant by Manuel Sirgo easily. It´s in theory more complex than the sheep, but it was so much easier to do the guesswork partially because there are lots of pictures taken from different angles to help.
I am still struggling here.
I must fold only three more models in order to complete Wolf´s CP guide. I have been able to figure out every other model from that guide but these: the horse, the camel and the damn sheep!
Well...
Based on your Tutorial I think I´ve got the base done. I folded exactly like this picture:
And then I just squeezed the model so that it would lie flat.
What I got is something with four flaps that will probably be the legs of the sheep and are similar the windmill/catamaran model, like you said.
I have no idea how to proceed from now on.
For instance, I have no idea how to fold the sheep´s tail:
The head seems to be a bird base. Is it really a bird base? I mean, are the creases valley and mountain exactly like the creases that form a birdbase?
Haven't forgotten about this, just been too busy over the last few days, sorry!
Here's what you should get for the collapsed base:
This shows the base with the closed back facing up. The red line is a curved valley fold that starts and ends along the angle bisector of both hind legs. From the photo of the sheep, you can see that it doesn' fold flat.
The bird base for the head goes on the underside of the model. The two flaps marked 'horn' in the sketch above are two points of the bird base; these flaps need to be sunk along the green lines to get the 22.5 degree bird base points.
Just managed to fold from the sheep CP a few days ago. I was planning to make a sheep or ram for my friend's birthday present. But the results didn't look like Noboru-san's design. Therefore, I made another one, a ram from diagram found in http://www.origami.art.pl/. Attached are some photos.
Thank you Wolf for the guidelines to the sheep's CP.
Sheep Ram (I modified the neck to make it shorter)
While trying to fold the sheep, I made a design on the head. This maybe consider as an Aries
If anyone like to give it a try, I will diagram it.
