Most visually stunning models

Post by HopefulFolds »

What are some models that look REALLY cool, and have a CP or diagram that can be folded in a reasonable amount of time?

that dragon takes a horrible long time to fold. everything that takes more than two hours is in my opinion out of the "reasonable amount of time". folding hours and hours for a single model can be very frustrating.

Fiery Dragon and by Kade Chan:

And Leviathan by Kade Chan:

Both can be done in under one hour (separately, not in total)

ugh... i tried the ancient dragon and finished

I failed catastrophically. The washi paper was way too thick and didn't hold creases. I'm using tissue paper next time.... if I even try it again.

I would say Robert Lang's Black Forrest Cuckoo Clock, but you've got to have paper at least 1.6 metres in length, and 16cm in width, and a lot of patience, as it is quite a complex model. Also the chuka Ryu, though I can't remember who folded it, and it is basically the same case as the BFCC.(large paper, very complex).

But if you want a tradeoff between stunning, and quick to fold, I think about 0% of all stunning models I have seen come with the bonus of being quick to fold, so if you want stunning, it's always going to take a while to fold the model!

Actually, there are tons of visually amazing models that can be folded in under 2 hours.
Half the models in quentin's book sequence can be folded in 1- 1 and a half hours.
Most of the stuff in Origami Essence and Interpreters are beautiful and can be folded in an hour.

My two cents:

Michael Lafosse: Cardinal

Rae Cooker: Strawberry

Patricia Crawford: Full Masted Ship

Neal Elias: The Last Dance

Emmanuel Mooser's - Box Pleated Train

Rokoan Connected Cranes - Renzuru, Senbazuru

Non-folders who see these models do not realize that they are Origami, and may not believe that they are from one sheet of paper.

Neal Elias: The Last Dance
Mr. Simon, Isn't it "The Last Waltz"? If so, I have to agree, that is definitely a beautiful model that non-folders won't believe is one piece.

Yes, mine has a different, unintended implication. :-)

Thanks,

You're welcome Mr. Simon.

As for my choice of model for diagrams, I'm going to have to go with the 3 headed dragon by Anibal Voyer. I brought it to school for a critique and the first question was "how many papers did that take you?" The funny part was that some of them refused to believe me when I told them it was only one square
