A good place to start folding?

Hi, I'm pretty much new here, and I was wondering where I could find some more intermediate level folds. I've covered the basics (crane, Samurai hat, panda, etc.) and I've tried, obviously to no avail, on some of the really advanced ones (Fiery Dragon, snake dragon, various Satoshi Kamiya designs). Does anyone have any that are sort of in the middle, but still look very nice one completed? That'd be great if anyone can help!

P.S. I noticed the introduction forum, but this was more of a question, so I thought I'd post here. If it shouldn't be here, let me know.

I really like Jun Maekawa's book Genuine Origami, it would be a great next step for you.

Of course, you can find a lot of stuff online, check out videos by Sara Adams, Evan Zodl, or Jo Nakashima on YouTube.

If you go to http://dev.origami.com and choose diagrams and then intermediate, you'll find at least 100 models to fold.

If you like birds, check out John Montroll's Bugs and Birds in origami. It has lots of nice intermediate bird designs.

I recommend ooking at John Montrol's animal origami for the enthusiast. It runs the gamut from pretty easy to downright impossible. If not that, then definitely you should check out Michael Lafosse's books. They have very satisfying models in them though not very cost effective (his books are a little pricey).

my first book was origami sea life by lang and montroll. great designs ranging from simple and elegant, to complex and grueling. it allowed me to learn all the great techniques to fold anything and to this day i still go back and fold that blue shark because it rocks, even if it seems simple now. good luck!

the book origami sea life is actually being reprinted as "origami under the sea" or "under sea origami" and it is a reprint of the original with some models added and there will be a second origami sea life publishes soon i believe that will have more modles as well. great books though.....still a sentimental favorite.....good luck!
