Origami USA 2011 Convention

I'm all for more conventions. I was looking forward SEOF as my first convention back in 2004, but they last held it in 2002 I believe (It was every other year, alternating with PCOC). Hopefully I'll get to attend Centerfold this year.

Since the badges are printed by Origami USA, they use a template for it, so there might be no space. What has been done in the past is using stickers (like smiling faces of specific colors), to put on your badge meaning you belong to such mailing list, forum or group and when someone sees it, they might ask you who you are on said list, forum, etc.

So, a two-fold question. When people exhibit their work at conventions, is it generally of their design? And if not, what is generally the quality expectation?

id be interested in that question as well. I have done some interesting interpretations of other peoples models, but would it realy be worthy of being on display. I do believe that all the requests for display space were due yesterday, as i did not request any it may not matter.

Last year what i saw was mostly original models but there was a whole section of models designed by other folders. Everyone did comply with the designed by: folded by: on the name plaques for the pieces.

Nice pun =p. From what I've seen its fairly split (at OUSA), you just have to notate the creator as well on the name cards. Quality also varries, but more often than not they're pretty fine (judging by your flickr gallery you have nothing to worry about). The way I see it, when someone folds a model by another very well, it helps draw attention to the creator as well as the folder. It gets the word out so to speak, especially as some OUSA members aren't internet active.

Just don't fold Kawasaki roses, since Kawasaki will be there himself and anyone else's would look meh

At the OrigamiUSA convention in NY, it is fully acceptable to exhibit works that you have folded that are someone else's design. Obviously any works exhibited should credit the designer and be of display quality; but of course that definition is up for interpretation...
