I'm looking for a Labrador

Post by meaganelise9 »

Hi everyone. I get a lot of requests from friends and my teacher wants a series of Black Labs to frame and give to his wife (brownie points for me)!

I've been searching through the many dogs and I seem to find a lot of dachshunds and whatnot but some of the breeds look so different, it's hard to pin down the right model that would only need minimal to no revising. I found one or two that would have worked quite well but were in Japanese books that I can't yet read.

Any help is much appreciated! :)

I did a few photo searches on the origami database, http://origamidatabase.com/ but didn't see very much that looked like a lab. The closest I've folded so far is Stephen Weiss's Irish Setter, from Origami Zoo by Lang and Weiss. Perhaps it could be re-shaped? At least it's a long-legged dog.

Hello meaganelise9,

I have a book with a labrador retriever in it. It's called Origami Dogs by Yoshihide Momotani, and has a large variety of intermediate level folded dogs. The lab I find the legs to be a bit wide, but if you wet fold and curve/thin the legs it comes out quite pleasing. The book, however, is in japanese but it's quite easy to interpret what the designer is trying to portray.

A picture of the book: (link below)

I will try to find a site where they sell the book if you are interested, for it is an older book.
A tiny place to post my things. Enjoy~
