I can see that you folded opposite corner flaps towards the centre to start off the base, and therefore have two unused corners tucked into the middle of the model.

Pull one of these corners out a bit. You'll have something like a fin emerging from the back, green on one side, and orange on the other.

Wrap this over the green streak going down the middle of the back, and tuck it in the pocket. This way, you'll get an orange corner to cover the centre of the back colour change, making the model look a little more 'closed-back' than it actually is.

I've used a similar technique in a model which probably has a similar base to yours : http://fishgoth.com/origami/gallery/fantasy18.html , crease pattern with explanation of this 'closed flap' technique at the bottom of the page.
I once set up an origami PLC. But the business folded.

thanks stephen your right i have got two flaps in the centre that i would usually use for wings i don't know if i will be able to use them to cover the back but i'm going to test it :)

I like the head detail on the dragon. Very nice.

So why are you named after a genus of wasp, Polistes??

polistes is latin for the paper wasp my local football team is alloa athletic (wasps) and i do origami folding paper so paper and wasps simples :D

the horse looks like something from the far side cartoons - when i saw it i recognized it from the cartoon immediately.
