Umbrella

Post by martemy »

I'm looking for this umbrella model on the picture. Does anyone know who made it or where it might be found? Looks kinda like it is made out of a frog base...?

I'm also looking for the daffodil model. Any tips is greatly apreciated :)

The flower looks like the model Daffodil, created by Ted Normington. The diagram is in the book Classic Origami, by Paul Jackson, ISBN 0792453468.

As the top part of the umbrella you can always use a traditional kusudama piece (not exactly the same as in the picture, but close).

Hope this helps!

Yes, I think you're right about that daffodil!

Funny, I've acutally had that umbrella idea myself, but I guess I forgot about it.

Thank you for all your help.

And polistes, I'd still be interested in seeing that if you can find it :)

The Umbrella uses 2 pieces.

Joost Langveld has a very nice daffodil-type model. It's been awhile since I folded it so it might not actually BE a daffodil but it has that look. I don't have time to search out the link, but it was on his site and there was an accompanying video for folding.

I think the umbrella may be Jang Yong Ik's umbrella. CP is on his flickr.
