a. suit yourself, but don't tell others what they should or shouldn't do. everyone defines origami differently. you might consider cutting out of bounds, but others might be fine with it (even more so if it's before the bulk of folding and done as just a convenience not for structural reasons).
excuse me? uhhh  keep your comment to yourself.

Phuc, that was completely uncalled for.

Malachi made a perfectly reasonable comment. If you've got another opinion about how things should, or should not be, reply to the argument instead of resorting to uncivil responses.

when I read that comment--it was not appropiate--sure he's up to opinion--but he expressed it in a way that disrespected me.

He made a personal attack and that is upsetting to me.

If he said: "I disgree...because so and so..." then I would have no problem with that--but instead he said"suite yourself, but don't tell others..." Was I FORCING my views on others?? what he was thinking?? My comment was a suggestion!

Malachi should not have a personal attack----more careful of his words...I almost felt as if he was looking for a reason to argue on something that clearly was not meant to disrespect anyone origamists. That is why I got upset--and the reason for my response.

I all fairness the title of this thread is about Satoshi Kamiya's Sea Turtle... it doesn't matter if you want to cut, glue, blend, wash, rinse, repeat... Make a new thread please. Back on topic... Is this a complete crease pattern, or does it provide just the base?

Yes, actually: "We shouldn't be cutting..." is exactly that.

I don't see his comments as a personal attack on you; rather, his response was just blunt and direct.

Ondrej.Cibulka wrote:You can use bigger sheet of the paper to obtain 7x7 gridded paper in right size and from cutted strips you can make Joe's Eastern dragon...
That's exactly what I meant. There is definitely no point in cutting only one strip and end up with a 8x7 rectangle! :)

there is a very detailed CP in Origami Tanteidan Magazine nb 80.
we can see very clearly that it is based on a 7x7 grid.

Congratulations Wen Fu Kai!! your turtle is very nice!!
I start mine today...
