Flapping Vader

Post by hobbestheprince »

I am amazed at how cool the Flapping Vader is on Kamiya's site. Anyone know if there is a CP or diagrams availble?

It looks simple enough, I just don't get how he did the head. There's virtually no Darth Vader diagrams out there for his head.

Here's the link:

I'm pretty sure the body is from the Randlett flapping bird. For the head, he probably opened up the point for the head of the burd, folded it down, and shaped it.

I agree, the neck area that goes in and out reminds me of the flapping bird. I just wish I knew how to do the head ... it's a really funny model. What blows me away is there are no diagrams anywhere for a darth vader head ... otherwise I would just do that on a flapping bird body.

Anyone else have any clues? Perhaps anything on where I can find a darth vader helmet in origami?

I'm surprised by you being "blown away" that there aren't diagrams. I would be far more surprised if it WERE diagrammed.

Anyhow, it's just an ordinary flapping bird, with the head flap formed into a Vader head via standard origami techniques. Nothing special.

But I wouldn't even know where to start when it comes to doing a Vader head.

After another look, I don't think the model is the standard flapping bird. Look at the torso part ... it comes down whereas most flapping birds are flat at that area.

I'm willing to pay for it as well. As long as you have Paypal or don't mind snail mail.
